Reflection 38 of 52: Can we still get knocked out?

September 22, 2014

My 91 year old Mom loves baseball, as does my husband. Check out “Slugger Smith” to the left and his prized trophy for most home runs in 1961. Last year we went to a game at Nat Bailey Stadium, a first live game for my Mom.

From the moment we arrived, looking a little lost, staff looked after us. Helping us find our seats and making sure we felt more than welcome. One fellow gave us his card and said to call him if we had any questions or concerns. Really. It was delightful.

The entire experience from beginning to end is like going back to the 50’s. Good family style entertainment abounds. From the grounds crew dance to ball players singing, there is something magical about going to this game.

We enjoyed it so much; we booked another nooner this year. Due to some health issues, we had to cancel our tickets and ask for a rain check. They did not hesitate to accommodate us. When we called back to reschedule they said the last two games were sold out and we could either book for a playoff or wait until next season. Even more accommodating. Then, they went to check our tickets and found out the last person we talked to automatically booked us for the last game. Wow, how to delight a customer.

As we arrived for the game this time, we needed to find the designated parking for the disabled. We encountered three staff en route and all were smiling and helpful. That great customer service attitude seems to be in the Vancouver Canadians DNA.

The communication in this organization is stellar. We could all learn how to knock it out of the park from them.
